Excursions Galore!

We love to visit fun and interesting places now that Kahiau is older and more aware what's going on around him. Just last week we had a great visit from Mike's parents and it was so much fun having them here (ready made baby-sitters!)

We not only got to go to some fun excursions all around L.A. but Mike and I also got to go to the movies (that's always fun!)

Here are some highlights of their visit.

We visited the Japanese American National Museum in L.A. Here we are in front of the WWII 442nd regiment memorial. For those of you who don't know what the 442nd is, it was all made up of Japanese Americans from Hawaii and the mainland. It was one of the most decorated regiment in the war, but this was also the time when the Japanese Americans were forced to live in concentration camps throughout America because the government was afraid of their loyalty when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. This was another sad time and decision from our government. Many men went to war to defend a country that didn't even value their liberty and freedom. Mike's grandfather was one of these brave men.

Grandpa Harry Okouchi has since left us, but here at this memorial his name lives on and we can be proud of his accomplishments.
